Toby is the total package! This good looking boy is house trained and well mannered, affectionate (thinks he is made for laps – NOT), social and enjoys playing with other dogs, running zoomies around the yard and speed sitting or shaking your hand to get a treat. Toby is a smart boy and very engaging – he wants to learn more. He must have a fenced yard and an active family. He is no couch potato and needs interaction. He is just learning the joys of taking walks, meeting the world and gaining more confidence and he truly enjoys being out in nature. He not a big barker but if he is asked politely – he will happily grumble and smack talk you as he tells you all about his day – preferably laying by your feet with his front legs crossed... and a nice mellow beer.. and perhaps some cheese..... within reach.

Toby just turned 2 years old – he is one of Finley’s Fabulous Five – Fergus – born into our rescue and into the world via emergency C-section on May 16, 2016 and was adopted out at 10 weeks. His Mom Finley is a purebred Australian Shepherd and one in a million. Toby takes after her in personality but obviously after his dad in looks – we do know his dad was a mighty fine looking German shepherd boy and Toby has the most incredible awesome face. He was a well-loved puppy and has been returned for reasons beyond his control. So now we get to sit back and see who he chooses for his forever home.

Toby is great with people – has had some great basic training - we prefer he goes to a home without children – or at least no children under 12. He is 75 pounds and he can make the ground shake when he starts his play spinning and break dancing and can easily take out anyone with really short legs and a lower sense of balance – he can be a klutz but an endearing one…. And yes – you will give up long before he does if you can throw a ball for him ….. repeatedly…. repeatedly… or any toy actually. He can self-entertain with any toy you give him but we prefer another playful canine in the house – close to his size and willing to break dance with him.

Toby is house-trained (uses a doggy door), up to date on shots, neutered heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative, microchipped and ready to rumble! He has a few stipulations for his new family – big yard, lots of action, no kids, a good throwing arm, a family who knows these breeds (aussie/GSD), can help him with some confidence building and continue his training and appreciates a dog that is smart (possibly smarter than them), loyal and just all around awesome! Ask Toby – he really is a BFD and he expects the same from his family!

To see if you are a match please complete an application on our website (www.enchantmutts.org) found under Adoptable Dogs and forward to Kristi@enchantmutts.org. We will read all qualifications to Toby and see what he thinks! Toby will not be adopted out of the state of New Mexico.
